Ajira Digital Joins the World in Celebrating World Youth Skills Day in Nairobi

This year’s World Skills Day, held on July 15th and 17th at the iconic Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), brought together thousands of young people, industry leaders, educators, and policymakers under the theme “Youth Skills for Peace and Development.” Organized as part of the Skill-Up Africa Conference and Expo by the Nation Media Group, the event featured notable participants such as the International Labour Organization, UNESCO, World Skills Kenya, and the Ajira Digital Program. Panel discussions and exhibitions underscored the critical role of skill development in driving economic growth and preparing youth for a rapidly changing job market. Ajira Digital, a government initiative focused on equipping Kenyan youth with digital skills, reaffirmed its commitment to bridging the digital skills gap and empowering young people to thrive in the digital economy.

Ajira Digital’s presence was particularly impactful, with engaging sessions on digital tools, online work opportunities, and practical entrepreneurship training. Attendees explored career paths such as digital marketing, content creation, and coding through hands-on workshops and exhibitions from various sectors, including technology and education. These interactions highlighted the collaborative efforts needed to align education and training with market demands. The event’s discussions emphasized the urgency of equipping Kenya’s youth for the future of work, with Ajira Digital leading the charge in providing tools, platforms, and training to empower the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs.
