Inspiring Innovation: Highlights from the 2024 YSK National Science and Technology Exhibition

The 2024 Young Scientists Kenya (YSK) National Science and Technology Exhibition (NSTE), held from August 19–23 at the Edge Convention Center in Nairobi, showcased Kenya's brightest young innovators under the theme “Using STEM to Champion Climate Change Solutions.” Co-hosted with the National Research Fund (NRF) as part of the inaugural Kenya National Research Festival (#KNRF2024), the event brought together over 1,600 students from 390 schools across all 47 counties. This included representation from five special needs schools, two refugee schools in Kakuma and one school from Rusinga Island, highlighting the inclusivity of this hybrid exhibition. Participants submitted 598 innovative projects, with 100 showcased physically in Nairobi, underscoring Kenya's commitment to leveraging STEM for impactful solutions.

eMobilis was honored to attend the Closing Ceremony on August 23 and contribute to this milestone event by offering two full scholarships to outstanding awardees. The exhibition celebrated the transformative power of STEM, inspiring a new generation of scientists, innovators and entrepreneurs. With YSK’s dedication to leaving no learner behind, including their tailored mentorship programs and outreach to disadvantaged students, the event served as a testament to Kenya’s efforts in driving sustainable development through education and innovation.
