Yvonne Gachara’s passion for technology was ignited at the tender age of eight, during her first interaction with a computer. This fascination shaped her dream of working with computers and eventually pursuing a career in technology. Yvonne’s educational journey began at Bishop Gatimu Ngandu Girls' High School, where her computer teacher, Mr. Wekesa Barasa, introduced her to eMobilis. Later, she joined Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology to study Information Technology, laying the academic foundation for her career.
At eMobilis, Yvonne honed her skills in Website and Mobile Android programming, which proved instrumental in shaping her as a Full Stack Software Developer. Her final project at eMobilis was a Mall Navigator, designed to simplify navigation in large commercial spaces. By providing step-by-step directions and integrating store directories, the solution enhanced the shopping experience, making it seamless and convenient for users. This project exemplified Yvonne's ability to identify real-world problems and develop innovative solutions.
Yvonne’s tech journey has been marked by impressive milestones. She has developed Management Information Systems (MIS) for technical colleges, improved SACCO banking software and is currently designing bookkeeping software for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Each of these projects reflects her commitment to streamlining processes and enhancing efficiency through technology.
Despite facing challenges like the rapid pace of technological advancements, Yvonne has consistently overcome them by embracing continuous learning. She stays ahead by taking online courses, attending conferences and engaging with tech communities, a mindset that has allowed her to adapt to emerging trends like AI, blockchain and quantum computing.
Today, Yvonne works as an independent Software Developer at Wake Technologies, where she continues to innovate and contribute to the tech industry. She credits eMobilis for providing her with hands-on, industry-relevant training that enabled her to transition seamlessly into her career.
