Uongozi Career Award

On October 29th and 30th, 2024, the iconic Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi became the epicenter of dialogue and innovation as it hosted the East African Employability Summit and Uongozi Career Awards 2024. The event brought together over 500 policymakers, industry leaders, educators and young professionals to address the challenges and opportunities in preparing the workforce for a digital future. Among the highlights was the Ajira Digital Program, celebrated as the Youth Employment & Entrepreneurship Skills Partner of the Year. It further solidifies its reputation as a transformative digital empowerment and youth engagement force.

The summit's theme, “Driving Youth Empowerment and Workforce Readiness in a Digital Economy,” resonated deeply as discussions explored ways to address the region’s evolving employment landscape. Ajira emerged as a leader in aligning education and training systems with market needs, inspiring participants to leverage technology for sustainable employment and encouraging entrepreneurial thinking. The program’s initiatives to promote diversity and inclusion, particularly for women and persons with disabilities(PWD), were also spotlighted as models for fostering equitable opportunities.
